Treating Depression using Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy in Belfast, Portadown and Newry, Northern Ireland

Depression helped with hypnosis, hynotherapy in Belfast, Portadwon, Newry, Northern IrelandDepression can be treated using hypnosis and hypnotherapy at Ulster Hypnotherapy, Northern Ireland.

Depression and depression related symptoms can be resolved permanently by me, Stephen Chan hypnotherapist, using hypnosis and hypnotherapy in Portadown, Newry and Belfast, also within easy reach of Lisburn, Antrim, Lurgan, Armagh, Dungannon and Dundalk.

According to the Health & Well-being Survey DHSS 2001 people in Northern Ireland are at greater risk of mental ill health than people in England and Scotland. Everyone has gone through periods of feeling fed up, miserable or sad and, ideally during these times, we would call upon the counsel of friends or family to help get us through. So, these periods wouldn’t last long and we could get on with the business of living again.

But, what happens if you have never dealt with your feelings properly and these feelings along with all the others you have ‘bottled up’ over time don’t go just away, so you begin to feel so bad under all that stress, that they begin to interfere with your ability to cope with everyday life?...This is Depression.

Depression affects both the mind and body, and can present a variety of symptoms such as;

• Loss of appetite and/or weight loss or, conversely, overeating and weight gain
• Insomnia, early-morning awakening, or oversleeping
• Restlessness or irritability
• Feelings of worthlessness, inappropriate guilt, helplessness
• Feelings of hopelessness, pessimism
• Difficulty thinking, concentrating, remembering or making decisions
• Thoughts of death or suicide or attempts at suicide
• Loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities that were once enjoyed, including sex
• Decreased energy, fatigue, feeling "slowed down" or sluggish.
• Persistent physical symptoms that do not respond to treatment, such as headaches, digestive disorders and chronic pain.

And, yes, I agree that there can be hormonal and even environmental causes of depression, as well as emotional ones but it has been my experience that the ‘inner cause’ is invariably down to the stress from deeply held, unresolved “bottled up’ emotions and feelings that have been pushed down, in an attempt to push them away, because unfortunately for many people they were never taught how, or allowed to, deal with things that caused them upset effectively by expressing and thus releasing them.

It’s hardly surprising then that the word depression comes from the Latin ‘deprimo’ meaning ‘to press down’ or to ‘press under’.

This is where I come in...I’ll provide you with a safe, comfortable and non-judgemental environment in which you can finally express, release and resolve all these ‘bottled up’ emotions once and for all...without fear of rejection, criticism or judgement.

With the use of ‘Pure Hypnoanalysis’ this process will only take between 6 to 9 sessions; that’s right, 6 to 9 sessions is all it could take for you to get back to the business of living again!

On a more alarming note, recent research from a group of experts, led by Professor Irving Kirsch, from the Department of Psychology at the University of Hull looked at four commonly-used antidepressants and the clinical trials submitted to gain licensing approval. They included antidepressants regularly prescribed in the UK, including fluoxetine (Prozac), venlafaxine (Efexor) and paroxetine (Seroxat). Their research suggests that the new-generation antidepressants are largely a waste of time. A review of clinical trials found they worked no better than a dummy pill for mildly depressed patients and for most people suffering severe depression. Even trials suggesting benefit for severely depressed people did not provide evidence of clear clinical benefit.
The researchers concluded: "We find that the overall effect of new generation antidepressant medications is below recommended criteria for clinical significance." Professor Kirsch said: "The difference in improvement between patients taking placebos and patients taking antidepressants is not very great. This means that depressed people can improve without chemical treatments."

So if you have tried everything else with little or no effect on the way you feel, contact me and take me up on my offer – only 6 to 9 sessions to get back to the business of living again!
