The Thrive Programme

Thrive logo, the thrive programme, anxiety, stress, phobias, sleep problems, insomnia, belfast, ulster, Portadown, Newry, Lisburn, Antrim, Lurgan, Armagh, Dungannon and DundalkWhy 'The Thrive Programme'?
When for whatever reason a course of Pure Hypnoanalysis may not be appropriate or possible to complete, then the ideal alternative is The Thrive Programme.

‘Thrive’ is really the culmination of twenty years of studying people: what makes them happy, what makes them sad, what makes them sick, what makes them healthy. Why do some people keep getting colds, whilst others never get them? Why do some people get so depressed that they kill themselves, whilst others, despite sometimes terrible hardships, are resilient and face the pressures and stresses of life with a spring in their step and a smile on their face?’
Rob Kelly, director of research and training for the IAPH and creator of The Thrive Programme.

Just in case you didn’t catch that....

The above are all the result of or aggravated by stress!

Why is it about Stress?
Hundreds of studies have shown that stress contributes to a significant percentage of all major illnesses, including the number one cause of death in the UK, heart disease. However, don’t just take my word for it, look it up.

What causes stress?
Stress-causing situations and pressures are known as stressors. Stressors are usually thought of as negative things such as unreasonable workloads or relationship problems. However, even positive things such as getting married, buying a house or receiving a promotion can also become stressors. In fact, just about anything that takes you out of your ‘comfort zone’ and forces you to adjust can be regarded as a stressor.

What are your stressors?
This depends on you, or at least in part on your perception. Whatever is happening in your life is just an ‘event’ or ‘experience’ and, through our perceptions, we ‘label’ these events / experiences either good or bad, for example, and it’s the label which our perceptions place on these events / experiences that determines how we react and whether they ‘feel’ easier or harder for us to deal / cope with.

It’s your thoughts and your interpretations about anything and everything you experience which are influencing how YOU feel; what you are choosing to think or perceive is creating your reality and not what’s actually happening.

This is why your stressors would be different from mine, for example:
Are you terrified of speaking or performing in front of an audience, or do you live for the spotlight?
Do you perform best when you have a tight deadline, or shut down when demands escalate?

There is nothing in the world that is in itself stressful... not your partner, not your kids, not your job, not being stuck in traffic, not playing a bad round of golf etc...
Nothing is stressful unless you perceive it to be stressful!

Therefore, if your stressors are created from your perceptions, or the way in which you look at things, then what would happen if you learned how to change the way in which you look at things? What would happen to the things you are looking at and, more importantly, what would happen to your stressors and your stress levels?

What the Thrive Programme can do for you...
The Thrive programme clearly and simply explains (and has the research to back it up) how your beliefs, your thinking styles and your personality traits all interact to create your perceptions and your view of yourself and the world. Until you understand how you are unwittingly creating unhelpful perceptions and reactions, and how to change them, you will continue trying to combat stress and its many manifestations which your own mind has in fact created.

Understanding how you’ve come to see things in the way in which you do, basically how you make yourself stressed in the first place, is 90% of the solution...this  90% is what all the other stress management, self-help books, positive thinking, NLP or CBT techniques or anything else you have tried so far have failed to tell you. Techniques can only be 10% of the solution...this is why you still have your problems.

You will also learn why, no matter how much you have read, been taught, understand, know and even advised others about what you ‘should’ be doing in order to have a happy, healthy and successful life, you still feel pretty powerless and incapable to do anything about it!

Thrive is mind training NOT therapy!

You can look at it this way, what does a Fire Prevention Officer teach you, does he teach you how to become a fire fighter?...NO...He teaches you how to recognise the potential hazards and how to prevent a fire starting in the first place.

The Thrive Programme helps you to become aware of what you unwittingly do in order for you to become stressed in the first place, once you understand this you can STOP IT!

Your thoughts create your reality – what are you focusing on right now?
